We meet in Chernivtsi and head closer to the mountains to live among picturesque Carpathian landscapes. We check into cozy rooms, have lunch, and get acquainted. Toward evening, we gather for an informal lecture and learn interesting things about the Malanka tradition.
We get to know local legends - we will meet the nephew of Ivan Mykolaichuk himself, who will tell fascinating stories right in the recreated house where the actor once lived. Later, we go to an event that cannot be staged: we make our own masks and celebrate Malanka in the village streets until late at night.
After sleeping in properly, we share emotions from what we experienced and wash away fatigue in a Carpathian hot tub. We watch and discuss the Ukrainian film Pamfir, including looking at its Malanka scenes through the lens of our own experience.
A slow morning and conversations. We check out and return to Chernivtsi with impressions for the whole year, and maybe for a lifetime.

Yes, if you are open to meeting new people. The vast majority of our travelers came alone. And everyone feels a little scared - that is okay. You will be surprised how amazing it is to dive into this experience as an adult. From our own observations, we can assure you: it is in a 'solo' journey that people open up best and learn more about themselves. And who knows, maybe you will return with a new friend.
On this journey, you only need to be ready for one thing - dancing and having fun until midnight. We will not hike in the mountains, and we will move between locations by transfer.
We stay in a modern hotel among picturesque Carpathian mountains. Rooms are designed for 2 or 4 people and have double beds. To make you feel more comfortable, separate blankets are provided. This usually sounds intimidating, but believe us, it is not as scary as it may seem at first glance.
Yes, the hotel has Wi-Fi and generators in case of power outages. Mobile service on the property depends on your operator, but this is not a place where it is completely absent.
To make Malanka as comfortable as possible, we recommend taking comfortable shoes and warm clothing, as the activity will take place outdoors. Take care of a power bank just in case. Besides the hot tub, there is a small SPA on the hotel grounds, so be sure to bring a swimsuit.
